Data collection

All data collected for the purpose of this experiment is gathered with informed consent of the participants. This data is stored by default in pseudonymous form; participants willing to communicate their real name for display on their profile page are allowed to do so, but never required to. All data, including profile-page information, questions, closure times, and all answers by participants, is stored by default for a period of five years since the day of collection, until it is published in aggregate form or destroyed. Participants willing to take part in the experiment but refusing to have their data aggregated for the purpose of a scientific publication may signal this decision by email to <david.a.r.robin@gmail.com> and will be asked to authenticate themselves before this decision is taken into account.

Access, rectification, and erasure

Participants may request that all their personal data gathered on behalf of the Mantis project, including profile-page information, questions and challenges they have created, and answers they have submitted, be sent to them in csv format, via an email to <david.a.r.robin@gmail.com> and will be asked to authenticate themselves before this data is transmitted to them. All static information gathered about participants is modifiable on the participant's profile page and changes will be immediately reflected throughout this website. However, for timestamped information, such as answers submitted to a question at a specific point in time, the Mantis project does not recognize a right to modification or rectification, which would effectively corrupt the data with newly-acquired knowledge by the participant between collection and rectification, and instead only recognizes a right to erasure. Participants may request erasure of all data collected about them at once by deleting their user profile, irreversible and effective immediately upon submission of the request from their profile page, or request erasure of specific timestamped data by providing the URL used to submit said data, or other identification of the question or challenge, and the time window to be erased, via email to <david.a.r.robin@gmail.com>.
